During Horus' attack on the Imperial Palace on Terra, Sigismund, a great hero of the Black Templars, was chosen as the Emperor's Champion. He and his men fought bravely, and saved the Palace. When the Primarchs decided to divide their chapters, Sigismund led his men to create the now legendary Black Templar.
